That much anticipated return might be in the area of career growth, an exercise regime, a new business venture, etc.
The 7 of Pentacles may show up in a reading (again, it all depends on the question asked) to remind us that we have been working hard nurturing our project and not to give up.
A seven can be the point in a journey to be introspective in order to decide if you need to do something different to enhance your chances for success.
If you think you have done all you can at this point to ensure the growth/outcome you are anticipating, then it may be time to stay focused on the tasks at hand knowing it won't be long before you will be rewarded with growth.
